Men’s Lacrosse Players of the Week (May 11)

INDIANAPOLIS – Mercyhurst secured Great Midwest Athletic Conference Men’s Lacrosse Players of the Week honors for the final time this spring after being propelled to a second consecutive tournament title over the weekend.
 
Mercyhurst and Seton Hill are both being represented in the NCAA Championship bracket of the North Region with Saxon Stadium serving as host. Seton Hill will play Saint Anselm and Mercyhurst has a rematch lined up against Mercy.

Johnson simply had a stellar start to the postseason as the Lakers defeated No. 4 seed Lake Erie in the semifinals on Wednesday and No. 2 seed Seton Hill in the championship game on Saturday.
 
The sophomore midfielder tallied a combined five goals and five assists to help the Lakers complete successful back-to-back tournament title runs.
 
Johnson scored three goals and helped on three others while taking seven shots in a 23-9 win over the Storm at home.
 
On Saturday, he scored a pair of goals and was credited with two more assists while taking three shots against the Griffins. Going into the NCAA Championship bracket, Johnson has a very balanced 25 goals and 27 assists on the season.
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Cole Pellicano

Pellicano did some impressive work in the cage to help Mercyhurst’s title hopes on the defensive side of the field.
 
The two-time conference defensive player of the week and second team all-conference selection made a combined total of 16 saves vs. Lake Erie and Seton Hill.
 
Pellicano made six saves vs. Lake Erie and 10 more vs. Seton Hill in a battle against his counterpart Kevin Mo.
 
Pellicano improved his season record to 11-1 overall and has been in goal for over 600 minutes this spring for the Lakers.
