INDIANAPOLIS - Walsh and Tiffin earn Great Midwest Men’s and Women’s Tennis Athlete of the Week honors announced Wednesday afternoon.

Walsh won a close match with Tiffin on Saturday at the North Canton Racquet Club. The Cavaliers defeated the Dragons 4-3, winning all three doubles matches and No. 4-6 singles, while Tiffin won No. 1-3 singles.
Junior Alex Medina earned points for his team as he won at No. 5 singles (2-6, 6-4, 6-4) against Tiffin’s Cyrille Colomb. Medina then won No. 1 doubles with Jacob Riglewski, 7-6.
On the season, Medina is a perfect 5-0 at No. 5 singles. The doubles team of Medina and Riglewski is 8-5 at No. 1 doubles so far this season.
Walsh has three conference matches and one non-conference match remaining on the schedule before the conference championship set for April 23 and 24 in Owensboro, Kentucky. The Walsh men’s team currently sits at the top of the conference standings at 2-0.
Women’s Tennis Athlete of the Week

While the Walsh men defeated Tiffin, on the women’s side the story was reversed as Tiffin’s women defeated Walsh 4-3 on Saturday.
Previous winners of conference weekly honors, Tiffin’s Abbie-Jade Riley and Anais Geslin won at No. 1 and 2 doubles, while this week’s Athlete of the Week recipient Juliette Sirgant, won at No. 5 doubles. Sirgant defeated Walsh’s Isabella Sanchez (7-5, 6-2) to clinch the win for the Dragons. Tiffin also at won No. 1 and No. 3 doubles.
Tiffin women swept Ursuline earlier in the week, 7-0. Sirgant played No. 3 singles, easily defeating Ursuline’s Makaila Williford (6-0, 6-0).
Sirgant is 11-2 in all singles matches this season, typically playing at No. 3, 4 or 5.
The Dragons gear up for three more conference matches before heading to Owensboro for the conference championship at the end of the month. Tiffin women are currently first in the conference standings at 3-0.
