INDIANAPOLIS - The Hillsdale men and Tiffin women claimed the Great Midwest regular season titles, clinching a No. 1 seed in the conference tournament and earning Athlete of the Week honors, announced Wednesday. 

Hillsdale, Findlay, Tiffin and Walsh make up the four-team conference tournament field on both the men’s and women’s side. The conference championship tournament is set for April 23-24 in Owensboro, Kentucky.

Hillsdale closed out the regular season with wins over Cedarville (4-0) and Walsh (6-1). Brian Hackman went 4-0 on the week with two wins at No. 3 singles and a pair of wins at No. 3 doubles.

The junior defeated Cedarville’s Timmy O’Brien (6-2, 7-5) and Walsh’s Clemens Wagner (6-3, 7-5) in No. 3 singles. His win over Walsh clinched the match and the regular season title. 

Hackman and doubles partner Daniel Gilbert won over Cedarville’s No. 3 doubles pair, 6-3. They then beat Walsh’s No. 3 doubles, 6-4. 

Hackman is 5-1 on the season in No. 3 singles while Hackman and Gilbert are 8-5 in No. 3 doubles.

Regionally ranked Tiffin swept Kentucky Wesleyan (7-0) last week to close out the regular season with a perfect 6-0 conference record to clinch the regular season title and a No. 1 seed in the tournament. 

Emily Sim did not lose a game against KWC, winning No. 3 singles (6-0, 6-0) and No. 2 doubles with Juliette Sirgant (6-0). 

Sim is 5-0 in No. 3 singles on the season.
