– With more overall and meet records shattered, 13 more event winners were crowned on Thursday as the Great Midwest Athletic Conference/Mountain East Conference Swimming & Diving Championships forged on from the C.T. Branin Natatorium.

There were no changes in the team standings as the Findlay men are nearing their fourth consecutive team title with a handful of individuals scoring major points in the Oilers’ cause.

Findlay has 1,088.5 points and runner-up Notre Dame (OH) is in the rearview mirror at 685 while Davis & Elkins currently has 637.5.

The lead has been steady for Hillsdale as the Chargers had their first individual event champions, Cecilia Guadalupi and Caroline Holmes, and have led the field every day of the meet thus far. Hillsdale is attempting back-to-back women’s team titles and have racked up 1,170.5 points to Findlay’s 1,043 through Day 3.

NCAA butterfly champion Tim Stollings and Daniel Garcia both have accounted for 96 points in UF’s team scores while freshman Dags Bregis has multiple event wins for 92. Another freshman Adam Hornak, brought home an individual win on Thursday, and has loaded up for 85 points while Luca Chiandussi has stood at the podium multiple times in the finals for 75 points.

Stollings decimated the conference 100 backstroke record, even bettering the time he showcased at nationals in Birmingham for All-American honors (46.96). The sophomore clocked a 46.73, which ranks 13th overall in NCAA Division II history in short course.

Stollings now owns 8 of the top 10 100 backstroke times in combined conference history.

Garcia was a big-time standout on Thursday, dominating the field for championships in the 400 IM and the 100 breaststroke. Garcia shattered the conference record in both his prelim and finals runs with times of 53.88 and 53.77, officially passing former UF standout Isaac Stretch for the top spot in that event.

Garcia had also cracked the conference record in the 200 IM on Wednesday with a championship-winning time. Senior Dalton Shevlin completed the diving sweep with a 3-meter win and he posted the third-highest point total in conference history with 427.5 from the elevated height. UF’s 200 freestyle relay time of 1:24.28 was also good for seventh in the combined conference record books.

Hillsdale’s top performer for point accumulation has been Guadalupi with 92. Caroline Holmes and Leah Tunney have racked up 85 and 83, respectively, in a very balanced team effort. All three of those ladies have been conference athletes of the week at some point in 2020-21.

Holmes and Tunney went 1-2 in the 100 backstroke at 57.46 and 57.67. They followed Guadalupi’s championship performance in the 400 IM (4:33.94) and runner-up effort in the 100 breaststroke.

Guadalupi secured a top 10 performance in combined conference history in the 400 IM at No. 7, passing former Charger Hannah Wilkens from her 2017 time.

Hillsdale closed out the evening with an impressive exhibition in the 200 freestyle relay, holding off a talented UNC Pembroke grouping. The Chargers had a time of 1:35.65, seventh all-time in conference history and it was their third victory, individual or team, on the day.

Malone also celebrated its first champion of the meet as senior Denise Quentin flew through the 100 butterfly finals with a time of 56 seconds flat. She was very consistent from her morning prelim attempt in 56.05 seconds. Both of her times are top 10 in the conference records, ranking third and fourth, respectively.
