Great Midwest to Send Eleven Athletes, Ten Relays to 2026 Swimming & Diving National Championship Event

INDIANAPOLIS — The NCAA Division II Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving Committee officially announced the qualifiers for the 2026 NCAA Division II Championships on Wednesday. The Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) will be sending a highly competitive contingent to the national meet, which will be held March 10-14 in Evansville, Indiana.

The University of Findlay leads the conference's swimming efforts, qualifying a total of eight student-athletes, five women and three men, across 21 individual events. Furthermore, the Oilers showcased their depth by securing eligibility in all five relay events for both the men's and women's programs which will travel an additional eight Findlay athletes.

On the boards, Ashland University will make its mark with three student-athletes selected to compete in the diving portion of the meet. 

Standout Performances and "A" Cuts The G-MAC brings serious firepower to Evansville, highlighted by several athletes posting automatic qualifying "A" cuts:

  • Camilo Marrugo Montano (Findlay): The graduate student enters the championships as the No. 1 seed in the Men's 100 Butterfly with a blistering "A" cut time of 45.70.

  • Sebastian Camacho Gomez (Findlay): The sophomore distance specialist secured automatic "A" cuts in both the Men's 1650 Freestyle (15:11.35) and the 500 Freestyle (4:19.14).

  • Emily Mears-Bentley (Findlay): The senior standout achieved automatic "A" cuts in the Women's 200 Butterfly (1:58.41) and the 100 Freestyle (49.38).

  • Troie Grubbs, UF: 50 Freestyle (22.97, B Cut); 100 Freestyle (50.29, B Cut)

  • Helmi Kakela, UF: 100 Breaststroke (1:01.23, B Cut); 200 Breaststroke (2:14.48, B Cut)

  • Emily Mears-Bentley, UF: 200 Butterfly (1:58.41, A Cut); 100 Freestyle (49.38, A Cut); 100 Butterfly (53.57, B Cut); 200 Individual Medley (2:04.53, B Cut)

  • Olivia Scheibelhoffer, UF: 100 Butterfly (54.91, B Cut); 50 Freestyle (23.19, B Cut); 100 Backstroke (55.78, B Cut)

  • Katie Susi, UF: 100 Breaststroke (1:01.92, B Cut); 200 Breaststroke (2:14.32, B Cut); 200 Individual Medley (2:04.55, B Cut)

Sophie Busby, Macee Reckard, Anabelle Smith, Hannah Nagel will swim relay events for Findlay.

  • Camilo Marrugo, UF: 100 Freestyle (43.32, B Cut); 100 Butterfly (45.70, A Cut); 50 Freestyle (19.53, B Cut)

Arnaldo Guimaraes, Juan Blandon Torres, Santiago Arteaga, Nick Beratz will compete in relay events for the Oilers.
