INDIANAPOLIS - Hillsdale men and Tiffin women take home Great Midwest Tennis Athlete of the Week honors announced Wednesday afternoon.

Hillsdale defeated conference opponents Findlay (4-0) and Tiffin (4-1) last week to improve to 3-0 in the league, 11-2 overall. Tyler Conrad was a perfect 4-0 in his matches, picking up two wins at No. 1 singles and two at No. 1 doubles. 

Against Findlay, Conrad swept No. 1 singles (6-2, 6-4) against Jorge Barnuedo. Conrad and Sean Barstow defeated Findlay’s No. 1 doubles team 6-2. Conrad and Barstow then won against Tiffin’s No. 1 doubles pair 6-4. Conrad polished off the weekend with a come-back win over Tiffin’s Nair Adi in No. 1 singles (4-6, 6-2, 6-2). 

Conrad is 8-4 on the season in No. 1 singles, while Conrad and Barstow are also 8-4 in No. 1 doubles. 

Women’s Tennis Athlete of the Week

Tiffin picked up a pair of wins over Cedarville (7-0) and Hillsdale (4-2) over the weekend to improve to 5-0 in the conference and 13-2 overall. Abbie-Jade Riley went 2-0 at No. 1 singles and added a win at No. 3 doubles. 

Against Cedarville, Riley defeated Abby Totten (6-3, 6-1) in No. 1 singles. She did not compete in doubles against Cedarville. After falling in the first set to Hannah Cimpeanu 6-7 (5-7), Riley came back to win the next two sets 6-4, 6-3. Riley and Shea Foster easily defeated Hillsdale’s No. 3 doubles team, 6-1.

On the season, Riley is 11-3 at No. 1 singles and Riley and Foster are 9-1 in all doubles matches.
