INDIANAPOLIS - The Tiffin Dragons swept Findlay in men’s and women’s tennis last weekend, earning a pair of Great Midwest Tennis Athlete of the Week honors.

The Tiffin men’s team rolled past Findlay 4-1, with the Dragons winning No. 1-4 singles. They also won No. 1 doubles.

Graduate student Joe Gilman defeated Findlay’s Alfredo Berlanga in No. 3 singles (6-2, 5-7, 6-1) to secure weekly honors. Gilman and doubles partner Michael Gurtner fell in No. 2 doubles, 6-2. 

Gilman is 5-5 in all singles matches and 4-2 at No. 3 singles this season. 

The Dragons are 6-5 on the season and 1-0 in the league with Saturday’s win. 

Women’s Tennis Athlete of the Week

The Tiffin women’s team defeated the preseason favorite Findlay 4-2 on Saturday. The Dragons were victorious at No. 2, 3 and 5 singles, as well as winning all three doubles matches. 

Emily Sim played a major role in the Dragons’ win as she defeated Samantha Sweet in No. 3 doubles (6-3, 6-4) and won No. 2 doubles with Juliette Sirgant, 6-4. 

Sim is 7-2 in all singles matches on the season and is 2-0 at No. 3 singles. 

The Dragons improve to 9-2 overall and 1-0 in conference play.
