Women’s Lacrosse Players of the Week (March 24)

INDIANAPOLIS – Following a pair of victories outside of the league schedule, Walsh received Great Midwest Athletic Conference Women’s Lacrosse Players of the Week accolades that were released on Wednesday.
 
The Cavaliers defeated both future conference member Ashland and Frostburg State to improve to 3-2 this spring. Ursuline and Findlay were anticipating the conference opener but was postponed due to COVID protocol.
 
Tiffin was idle over the past week of competition but has a matchup vs. Ashland coming up on the schedule.
 
Offensive Player of the Week

For the third time this spring, the goal-scoring machine McFeeters was tabbed for offensive weekly honors.
 
The junior mid came through with five goals on as many shots in the 23-11 victory vs. Ashland. She also added four ground balls, four draw controls and caused on turnover.
 
Walsh burst out of the gates with nine unanswered goals against the Eagles and she scored three of those in the first half alone.
 
On Thursday, Walsh won the battle of the first half against Frostburg State in a 16-12 final score. McFeeters netted five more goals on seven shots and added seven more ground balls, three draw controls and another caused turnover.
 
McFeeters is the current league leader in total points with 24 (21 G, 3 A) in five games played.

Mendenhall was the keeper of record in both Walsh wins and made a combined 10 saves in the efforts to help push the program above .500 this spring.
The freshman continues to show impressive signs of progression in her first year. Mendenhall made six saves on 20 shots faced vs. Ashland and picked up four ground balls while causing a turnover as well.
 
She played the majority of minutes against Frostburg State on the road with 42 and change logged. Mendenhall made four more saves on 13 shots faced as the Walsh defense permitted 19 total shots.
 
Mendenhall now sports a 3-2 record in net with 31 total saves and 271 plus minutes on her season stats.
