INDIANAPOLIS - With two regional wins on the week for both programs, the Tiffin men’s and women’s tennis teams swept Great Midwest Tennis Athlete of the Week honors announced Wednesday.
Both teams travelled to Michigan Tech on Wednesday and Southern Indiana on Saturday, adding two more wins to their records.
The men’s and women’s teams swept Michigan Tech 7-0 and then beat Southern Indiana 5-2.
Men’s Tennis Athlete of the Week
Hugo Chatras

Dreux, France (Lycee Edouard Branly)
Chatras won No. 4 singles in both matches and played a part in two No. 1 doubles wins on the week.
Against Michigan Tech, Chatras defeated Nico Caviglia 6-0, 6-2. Chatras and doubles partner Matthew Telford won 7-5 in No. 1 doubles.
The senior then defeated Marvin Kromer of Southern Indiana 7-5, 6-4. Telford and Chatras won No. 1 doubles 6-1.
The Dragons improve to 5-4 on the season with the first conference match set for March 27.
Women’s Tennis Athlete of the Week
Abbie-Jade Riley

Auckland, New Zealand (Wanganui Collegiate School)
Riley won No. 1 singles in both matches and won No. 1 doubles against Southern Indiana.
Against Michigan Tech, Riley easily defeated her opponent 6-2, 6-0. She was set to play No. 3 doubles with Shea Foster, but the match was forfeited by Michigan Tech.
Riley then defeated Rachel McCorkle of USI in No. 1 singles 6-3, 6-3. Riley and Foster won No. 1 doubles, 6-4.
The Tiffin women’s team improves to 7-2 on the season with conference play set to begin on March 27 against Findlay.
