INDIANAPOLIS - Hillsdale men and women were undefeated on the week, earning the Chargers a pair of Great Midwest Tennis Athlete of the Week honors, announced Wednesday afternoon.
Hillsdale’s men’s team went 2-0 on the week with wins over Purdue Northwest (7-0) and Wayne State (4-3).
On the women’s side, the Chargers won a hard fought battle with Purdue Northwest, 4-3.
This week, a brother and sister duo takes weekly honors. As junior twins, Brian and Sarah Hackman, are named Athletes of the Week for the first time in Brian’s career and third in Sarah’s.

Brian Hackman won No. 4 singles in three sets (7-5, 3-6, 10-8) and paired with teammate Daniel Gilbert to win No. 3 doubles (6-4) in the team win over Purdue Northwest.
Against Wayne State, Hackman rallied after losing the first set to win No. 4 singles (4-6, 6-3, 6-4). Hackman and Gilbert dropped a tight match at No. 3 doubles, 7-6 (5).
Hillsdale is 4-0 so far on the season. They will travel to Grand Valley on Saturday, February 27 for the next scheduled match.
Women’s Tennis Athlete of the Week

Sarah Hackman swept No. 1 singles in two sets (6-4, 6-4) and paired with teammate Hannah Cimpeanu to clinch the No. 1 doubles win.
Both of Hackman’s wins were critical to giving the Chargers the points needed to defeat Purdue Northwest, as this was the closest Hillsdale had been played all season.
The Chargers are 3-0 on the season as they are set to host Ferris State on Sunday, February 28.
