INDIANAPOLIS - Two familiar faces were named Great Midwest Swimming and Diving Athletes of the Week, announced Tuesday afternoon, as Malone and Hillsdale earn the title in back-to-back weeks.
On Friday, the Malone men’s team traveled to Notre Dame College for a dual meet, where the Pioneers fell 134-109. The very next day, NDC came to Canton where Malone won the dual, 144-99.
The Findlay men’s program did not compete last week, but will face Malone in a dual meet on Friday, February 19.
On the women’s side, Malone defeated NDC in back-to-back dual meets (134-108, 164-95). Hillsdale also came up with a win at Findlay, 163-117.
All four women’s swimming and diving programs will take the pool on Friday, February 19, as Ursuline did not swim this past week.
Men’s Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week

In Friday’s meet at NDC, Loewe won the 50 yard breaststroke in 27.07 and the 100 yard breaststroke in 49.63. He was also a member of the winning 400 meter relay team with Oliver Ehmann, Jakub Adamski and Braden Knoch, that touched at 3:40.96.
On Saturday, the two teams competed at Perry High School in Canton, OH, where all events and times were in Short Term Meters (STM).
Loewe won the 100 STM breaststroke and 200 STM breaststroke in times of 1:05.07 and 2:33.24, respectively. He joined teammates Ehmann, Knoch and Ezra Ferguson to win the 200 STM freestyle relay with a time of 1:56.67.
The sophomore has earned Athlete of the Week honors for two consecutive weeks.
Women’s Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week
Leah Tunney

Mequon, WI (Homestead)
Leah Tunney won three events on Saturday afternoon to help the Chargers to their seventh straight win. The sophomore took first in the 1,000 meter with a time of 10:47.55, beating opponents by 41 seconds.
Tunney then touched first in the 100 backstroke, finishing with a time of 1:00.46. The 200 freestyle relay team of Tunney, Emma Rao, Katherine Heeres and Marie Taylor finished first with a time of 1:40.87.
After earning conference weekly honors the past two weeks, Tunney has now earned the title four different times throughout her young career.
