INDIANAPOLIS – Prior to the league championship meet, Cedarville and Lake Erie secured Great Midwest Athletic Conference Cross Country Athletes of the Week awards.
Great Midwest schools are getting ready to travel to Cedarville’s Elvin R. King Course for the men’s 8K and women’s 6K races on Saturday, Oct. 23.

Wallis made his mark in the 8K race at the Wilmington-hosted Jenna Strong Fall Classic with a fourth-place performance out of a crowd of 325 runners.
The freshman helped the Yellow Jackets to a 10th-place team finish while getting ready to host the conference championship meet this weekend.
Wallis ran a time of 25:50.80 to edge out a handful of Great Midwest participants, including Ashland’s Ian Johnson in eighth place.
The freshman has ran in five different races for Cedarville this season. He had a 22nd-place finish at the 3.1 mile Mike Baumer Classic to open the year.
Women’s Athlete of the Week

Holgate, OH (Holgate HS)
Willett is the first-ever Lake Erie student-athlete in the sport of cross country to earn weekly conference honors.
Building up to her first-place finish at the Oberlin Regional Rumble, Willett had already broken the school record multiple times and is going into conference championship weekend on a high note.

It was back-to-back top-10 finishes for Willett after finishing seventh in the Slippery Rock-hosted Bill Lennox Invitational on Oct. 9. She had also just barely missed the top 10 by finishing 11th to start the season at the Doug Watts Open.
