INDIANAPOLIS – With the fall portion of the season winding down to a close, Walsh and Hillsdale have been selected for Great Midwest Athletic Conference Tennis Athletes of the Week.
 
Men’s Athlete of the Week
Jakob Riglewski 
Walsh
Senior
Munich, Germany (Therese-von-Bayern)
 
The Cavaliers picked up a non-conference win this week over the College of Wooster, 8-1.
 
In Walsh’s lone match of the week, Riglewski manned both the No. 1 spot in singles and doubles winning both in straight sets 6-2, 6-1, and 8-2, respectively.
 
The Cavaliers finished their shortened fall season with a 3-1 record. Walsh will open its season in the spring hosting future conference member Northwood.
 
Women’s Athlete of the Week
Canela Luna
Hillsdale
Junior
Rocklin, CA (Rocklin)
 
The Hillsdale junior Luna posted a 3-1 record at the Hillsdale Invite this week, while competing in different flights for singles and doubles.
 
Luna won in Flight B singles over her opponent from St. Mary’s, 6-1, 6-2. She then blanked another St. Mary’s foe in round two by perfect 6-0, 6-0 set scores.
 
In Flight B doubles, Luna partnered with Julia Wagner for a 6-0 doubles victory.
 
Hillsdale is back in action this Saturday, October 16, at Davenport.
