Cross Country Athlete of the Week (Sept. 21)

INDIANAPOLIS – The Great Midwest Athletic Conference Cross Country Athlete of the Week was announced on Monday afternoon with one event being completed among league membership over the weekend.
 
Cedarville opened the fall season with a top team finish at the Taylor Invitational. The Yellow Jackets are getting ready to host their annual Cedarville Open this weekend at the Elvin R. King Course.
 
Men’s Athlete of the Week

In Cedarville’s fall debut for the men, Kelly recorded the conference’s top time in the early part of the season with a runner-up performance at the Taylor Invitational.
 
Kelly ran a time of 25:26.20 as Cedarville held off Cornerstone and Indiana Wesleyan for the team victory.
 
The 8K race had a total of 157 runners as Kelly finished in the top 10 with four other teammates including sophomore Trevor Cross, sophomore Cooper Peterson and senior Caleb Pendleton.
 
The Yellow Jackets also had a total time of 2:09.43, combining for one of the best top-25 times in conference history.
 
Kelly is the second sophomore from the league to win athlete of the week this season, joining Walsh’s Drew Roberts.
