INDIANAPOLIS
– The Great Midwest Athletic Conference had 62 student-athletes four member institutions officially recognized by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) with the organization’s 2019-20 academic awards.
 
The ITA annually announces individuals for Scholar-Athlete awards and programs for All-Academic Teams.
 
The ITA reported a total of 593 individuals named Division II Men’s ITA Scholar-Athletes while 95 men’s tennis programs were awarded All-Academic Team distinction.
 
That prestigious list includes the Great Midwest programs of Findlay, Hillsdale, Tiffin and Walsh – all four programs doubled up with men’s and women’s ITA All-Academic Team status.
 
Women’s programs in Division II experienced the same kind of success with 762 named ITA Scholar-Athlete and 129 teams earning ITA All-Academic Team honors.
 
Walsh paced all Great Midwest schools with 18 total selections for ITA Scholar-Athlete. Tiffin had 16 and Findlay checked in with 15 while Hillsdale posted 13 names for the COVID-shortened academic year.  
 
 
To be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, one must meet the following requirements:
  • GPA of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year
  • Be listed on the institutional eligibility form
 
To be named an ITA All-Academic Team, programs must meet the following requirements:
  • Team GPA of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale),
  • All student-athletes included should be listed on the institutional eligibility form, and
  • All varsity letter winners should be factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year
