CoSIDA Full Release
INDIANAPOLIS – The Great Midwest Athletic Conference continued to be represented by various student-athletes on the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Team.
Four more names were added for a combination of athletic and academic achievements with Monday’s announcement reflecting the combined sports of cross country and track and field.
The Great Midwest is part of District 4 in Division II along with the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) and the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).
Honorees selected first-team Academic All-District® will advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. Academic All-America® honorees will be announced from June 22-25.
The CoSIDA Academic All-District® teams include the student-athletes listed on the following pages and are divided into geographic districts across the United States and Canada.
The following Great Midwest student-athletes were named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team: Andra Lehotay (Walsh), Cameron Burrows (Tiffin), Nikolas Curtiss (Tiffin) and Zach Fresenko (Malone).
Lehotay was recently named the Great Midwest Female Collegiate Achievement Award winner for the 2019-20 year, the top honor a conference student-athlete can receive. She graduated from Walsh with a GPA of 3.99 in Pre-Law (Government & Foreign Affairs) while excelling in both cross country and track and field.
Lehotay was also named an All-American by the United States Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for the indoor season along with Burrows and Curtiss in their respective events.
Burrows qualified for nationals in three different events, including the heptathlon. He was easily considered a contender for national title honors. His GPA at Tiffin was a 3.72 in Management.
Curtiss was waiting for his possible curtain call in Birmingham, Ala., before the NCAA Championships were cancelled due to COVID-19. The junior has certainly made his mark in the throws cage and has a 3.66 GPA in Sports Management.
Fresenko was a former Great Midwest Freshman of the Year in 2017 during cross country season. His success has carried over and is a two-time USTFCCCA All-Midwest Region Team selection as well.
Fresenko is also a junior and has a 3.91 GPA in Mathematics / Finance.
