Men’s Lacrosse Players of the Week (March 5)

INDIANAPOLIS – Two undefeated programs continuing their ascent in the national rankings received Great Midwest Athletic Conference Men’s Lacrosse Players of the Week honors that were announced on Thursday morning.
 
Mercyhurst and Seton Hill maintained their status at top 10 teams in Division II, North Region powerhouses as they each moved up.
 
Mercyhurst is now No. 3 in the country and Seton Hill is ranked sixth. A pair of first-year student-athletes both received honors for the current week.

Gensler is the next weapon in a long line of them for the Griffins as they beat NYIT, a program that was ranked in the preseason and is continuing to receive votes.
 
Seton Hill improved to 4-0 on the young spring with a 13-5 win at home while Gensler produced big numbers coming in off the sideline as a reserve.
 
On just four shots, he scored three times and was credited with two assists.
 
Gensler also filled the stat sheet with seven ground balls and caused a pair of turnovers. Gensler now has 10 points on the season – seven goals and three assists.
 
Defensive Player of the Week

From the Face Off Get Off (FOGO) position, Doran helped lift the Lakers to a big win over nationally-ranked UIndy.
 
Like Seton Hill, Mercyhurst improved to 4-0 on the season, and rallied doing so to come away with a 10-9 victory.
 
Doran was credited with seven ground balls picked up and he won 14 of his 22 faceoffs to help control possession for the Lakers.
 
Doran has been successful on over 67 percent of his opportunities on faceoffs this season. He also has a team-best 31 ground balls and has taken four shots.
