East Division Baseball Players of the Week (March 10)

INDIANAPOLIS – Walsh earned both respective selections for Great Midwest Athletic Conference Baseball Player of the Week in the East Division, as announced Tuesday. 
 
The East Division is currently led by Walsh with a 6-4 record. The Cavaliers started the week with a 12-1 win over California (Pa.) and carried that moment through a four-game stint in North Carolina held at the USA Baseball Training Complex.

Kaiser stepped into a tough role this season, replacing All-American Andrew Czech at first base. The redshirt sophomore proved that he is ready for the challenge as he was consistent from the batter’s box all week.
 
In five games, Kaiser went 12-23 including two doubles, with 10 runs batted in. He scored eight runs and walked twice. 
 
In an 18-4 win over Mansfield, Kaiser went 4-6 at the plate, including one double while bringing home four runners. 
 
Kaiser leads the Cavaliers in batting average on the season at .410 and has the second best on base percentage at .465.
 
East Division Pitcher of the Week

Alazaus went 2-0 on the week in wins over California (Pa.) and St. Thomas Aquinas. The sophomore completed 15 innings, while only giving up seven hits and one run (zero earned runs). He struck out 15 batters, with only one walk through two games.
 
In a 12-1 win over California (Pa.), Alazuas pitched six innings, facing 21 batters, and only giving up two hits.
 
In a 4-1 win over St. Thomas Aquinas, the left-handed pitcher threw a complete nine inning game, facing 32 batters, ten of which he struck out. He gave up five hits and one run, with zero earned runs.
