Women’s Lacrosse Players of the Week (Feb. 18)

INDIANAPOLIS – Co-league preseason favorite Findlay earned a win in its spring debut to secure Great Midwest Athletic Conference Women’s Lacrosse Players of the Week honors on Tuesday morning.
 
The Oilers’ season opener was a success as interim head coach Allison Kelly picked up her first career victory on the sidelines against Edinboro.

Burud tallied six points in the first contest of her senior season, hoping to help successfully defend Findlay’s conference tournament title from a year ago.
 
The all-conference midfielder had three goals and three assists on just four shots as Findlay scored an 11-10 win.
 
Burud also pieced together additional stats in the box score with four ground balls, two draw controls and one caused turnover.
 
Her third assist of the match directly fed the game winner, which was put away by Danielle Dilorenzo with 2:38 left to play.
 
Burud has been named to the all-conference first team in each of the previous two seasons by the league’s coaches. She was an IWLCA All-Midwest Region Team selection as well.

Bornstein withstood 26 shots from the Fighting Scots in the season opener, saving over 61 percent of her chances to give her team the opportunity to win.
 
The sophomore keeper was making her first start since all-region/conference performer Claire Farrell has graduated.
 
Bornstein was credited with a total of 16 saves had picked up three ground balls in all 60 minutes of regulation.
