INDIANAPOLIS – Hillsdale claimed both Great Midwest Athletic Conference Tennis Athlete of the Week awards that were announced on Wednesday morning.
 
Men’s Athlete of the Week
Ivanhoe Lissanevitch
Hillsdale
Junior

In back-to-back days, the Chargers earned a pair of team victories on the road at the No. 2 and No. 3 ranked programs from the Atlantic Region, Mercyhurst and Edinboro.
 
Lissanevitch was a perfect 4-0 in the spring competition and he remains ranked by the ITA with doubles partner Charlie Adams at No. 9 in the Midwest Region.
 
Lissanevitch won in straight sets at No. 2 singles vs. the Lakers’ Unai Gonzalez, 6-4, 6-2. In doubles, at the No. 1 position with Adams, they won by a score of 6-3 as the Chargers swept for the team point.
 
The junior cruised through his singles bout vs. Edinboro with another straight set victory, this time by a 6-2, 6-1 tally. All of the Chargers, including Lissanevitch and doubles partner Adams, won their matchups 6-3 for the team point.
 
Women’s Athlete of the Week
Katie Bell
Hillsdale
Junior
Carlisle, Cumbra, England (Queen Elizabeth Grammar School)
 
The preseason coaches poll favorite Chargers reeled off another win vs. Midwest Region competition, this time going on the road at Davenport for a 6-1 final.
 
Hillsdale improved to 3-0 on the season as Bell won both singles and doubles matchups.
 
The senior beat Adeline Nelson, 6-1, 6-2, before working with Ellie Chawner to complete the team doubles sweep.
 
This marks her fourth conference career athlete of the week honor and she has been a two-time all-conference team selection by the coaches.
