INDIANAPOLIS – With a top four ranking to start the spring, Mercyhurst took flight on its opening weekend to sweep Great Midwest Athletic Conference Men’s Lacrosse Players of the Week awards on Tuesday.
The Lakers defeated No. 11 ranked Wingate in their season opener and remained idle in the USILA National Poll at No. 4. Seton Hill is also ranked seventh in the same poll as the Griffins await their 2020 debut vs. Davis & Elkins on Saturday.
Both associate member programs are considered top contenders in the North Region this spring.

Kueber recorded five points in the box score as Mercyhurst went to North Carolina to beat Wingate for an impressive victory, 10-6.
The junior all-conference performer had four goals and an assist on 11 shots as the Lakers overcame a 5-3 halftime deficit. Mercyhurst outscored Wingate in the second half, 7-1, to pull away.
Kueber scored two of his team’s first three goals in the opening period. His third goal of the contest tied the score at 5-5 and he netted his fourth of the game on an assist by preseason All-American Devin Pipher.
Kueber is coming off a sophomore campaign in which he was the league leader in goals per game and was second in points per game, only to Pipher.

After tending net for the reigning conference champions, Emerson was credited with a win in his spring debut against a nationally ranked program.
Emerson backstopped the Lakers to a come from behind 10-6 win at No. 11 Wingate on Saturday afternoon in North Carolina.
He totaled 13 saves and scooped up a ground ball. Emerson limited the Bulldogs to just one goal over the final 30-minutes.
Last season, he logged over 850 minutes in goal and made over eight saves per contest.
