INDIANAPOLIS - Ohio Dominican’s thrilling overtime win over Kentucky Wesleyan earns the Panthers Great Midwest Player of the Week honors as announced Monday afternoon.
ODU’s (2-1) win marked one of eight conference contests played last week, and one of three that went into overtime.
KWC (1-2) was victories in its first of three road games this week, defeating Hillsdale (0-4) 72-62 in the lone Tuesday night game.
However, KWC was forced into overtime again on Saturday, as Findlay (3-2) tied the game at the end of regulation with a Bridget Landin put back. The Oilers then won 77-72 in overtime, to bounce back from a loss to Ursuline (1-3) on Thursday evening.
The Cedarville (5-1) trio of Ashlyn Huffman, Emily Chapman and Isabelle Bolender led the Yellow Jackets to a 2-0 record on the road this week, making that five straight wins for Cedarville. The Yellow Jackets defeated Malone (1-4) and upset Walsh (3-1) to give the Cavaliers their first loss of the season.
Walsh won its other home contest of the week, easily defeating Tiffin (4-2) on Wednesday night. The Dragons bounced back to defeat Malone in overtime on Saturday.
Trevecca Nazarene is scheduled to play its first contest on New Year’s Eve at Kentucky Wesleyan. Full conference schedule will resume on Saturday, January 2.

Troyer has made a name for herself in the league over the previous two seasons, as she was named to the all-conference second team in both 2018-19 and 2019-20.
With the loss of all-conference first team selection Alexa Fisher to graduation, Troyer has stepped into the role of the Panthers go-to player in her senior season.
Leading the league in scoring, Troyer is averaging 24.3 ppg and ranks seventh in field goal percentage (.531) and free throw percentage (.789).
Troyer led her team to a 92-90 overtime win over KWC, playing in all 45 minutes of action. The senior totaled a game-high 28 points to go along with eight rebounds, seven assists and two steals
Troyer was 12-of-20 from the floor, including two three’s. She was also a perfect 2-for-2 from the charity stripe.
With a layup in the fourth quarter, Troyer joined the 1,000 point club, making her the 20th member in conference history.
This marks Troyer’s second time in her career being awarded Player of the Week, as she first earned the honors on February 11, 2019.
