TIFFIN, Ohio -
In back-to-back seasons, Walsh captured the team title at the Great Midwest Men’s Cross Country Championship held Saturday at the Seneca Hills Golf Course in Tiffin.

Walsh has been crowned team champions three of its four seasons as a league member.

The men’s 8K course featured nine teams competing, as Lake Erie and Trevecca Nazarene withdrew from competition.

Twenty different men’s student-athletes were recognized with all-conference honors, the top 10 receiving first team honors and the next 10 making up the second team.

The Cavaliers finished four runners in the top five, as Noah Murray was first across the finish line with Drew Roberts close behind. Malone’s Zach Fresenko ran a strong race, finishing third.

Walsh earned its fair share of hardware as seven runners were named to the all-conference teams.

Murray was recognized as the Great Midwest Runner of the Year as he completed the course in 24:57.4. Xavier Foehl was awarded conference Freshman of the Year as he placed ninth with a time of 25:35.6.

The Great Midwest Coach of the Year was Walsh’s Rob Mizicko as he guided his program to the team title.

Tiffin’s Jacob Zinn, a senior majoring in Cyber Security and Digital Forensics, was awarded the Elite 23 Award, which is given to the highest cumulative GPA (of at least sophomore classification) competing in this year's race.
