Official USTFCCCA Release

NEW ORLEANS
– The Walsh men’s cross country program is considered among the nation’s best after the United States Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) released its national preseason poll on Wednesday.

The Cavaliers, also the Great Midwest Athletic Conference preseason coaches poll favorites, head into the fall ranked No. 22 nationally.

The USTFCCCA also produced its regional rankings for the preseason and a total of four programs from the Great Midwest were viewed among the top tier in the Midwest Region.

Walsh leads the way at No. 5 while Cedarville is next at No. 6. Malone came in at No. 9 and Hillsdale rounds out the regional rankings at No. 10, respectively.

Looking ahead, the NCAA Division II Cross Country Championships are slated for Saturday, November 23rd in Sacramento, Calif. The national poll has no impact on selection for the national meet.

The NCAA Midwest Regional will be conducted in Evansville, Ind., shortly after the completion of the Great Midwest Championships 6K race, which will be hosted by Ursuline College in Pepper Pike, Ohio.

Walsh qualified as a team for the NCAA Championships field last year as part of the Division II Festival in Pittsburgh, Pa., at Schenley Park. Hillsdale’s Joseph Humes qualified as an individual for the field.
