Men’s Lacrosse Players of the Week (May 7)

INDIANAPOLIS – Now ranked fourth in the country going into the NCAA Championship bracket, Mercyhurst claimed both selections for Great Midwest Athletic Conference Men’s Lacrosse Players of the Week. 
 
The Lakers were victorious in the Great Midwest Championship final against rival Seton Hill on Saturday. 
 
Mercyhurst plays Merrimack in the first round of national tournament and Seton Hill faces Mercy representing the conference and North Region in the bracket.

In two games, Grenon produced five goals for a potent Mercyhurst offensive attack. The sophomore gives the Lakers another dynamic scoring threat along with Devin Pipher and Caleb Kueber.
 
In the semifinals against Lake Erie, Grenon scored and had one assist while taking four shots in a 13-9 Mercyhurst win. 
 
He found an expanded role in the title game, firing off nine shots on the road in Greensburg and seven of those were on goal. Grenon scored four times and picked up one ground ball.

Emerson protected his zone with impressive performances between the pipes in the playoffs to help defeat Lake Erie and Seton Hill.
 
Emerson made 10 stops vs. LEC as the Storm managed 37 shots. He outdueled his counterpart, Conor Sharkey, who had a strong performance of his own with 17 stops for the Storm. 
 
The senior keeper rose to the occasion on Saturday, emerging as the winner in a duel against Great Midwest Goalkeeper of the Year Max Eismann of Seton Hill.
 
Emerson made 11 more saves and helped slow down the Griffins attack despite SHU holding a 40-31 advantage in the shot department.
