INDIANAPOLIS – Co-leaders Findlay and Tiffin garnered the most recent selections of Great Midwest Athletic Conference Women’s Lacrosse Players of the Week recognition as announced on Tuesday.
Both the Dragons and Oilers won a pair of conference games on the road to share first place in the conference standings at 3-0. Defending conference champion Lake Erie is lurking close and also in the same position with an unbeaten Great Midwest record but with one less game played at 2-0.
Offensive Player of the Week
Jacelyn Litman
Findlay
Midfield
Senior
North Canton, OH (Jackson HS)
Litman helped lead the offensive charge for the preseason coaches poll favorite Oilers as they extended their current win streak to three straight vs. Walsh and Ohio Valley.
The senior racked up points in bunches, whether as a designated scorer or distributor to her teammates.
In the two games, Litman collected five points and nine assists for a grand total of 14 points while taking nine shots.
It was a balanced effort in both games for Litman as she tallied seven points in each contest. Against Walsh she had three goals and four assists on six shots. Two days later against OVU, she recorded two goals and five more assists.
Her passing numbers were tops among all players in the league from the past week of competition.
Defensive Player of the Week
Amie Morrison
Tiffin
Midfield
Senior
Burnaby, B.C. (Burnaby South Secondary School)
Morrison did a little bit of everything on the field as the Dragons defeated common opponents with Findlay on the road, Ohio Valley and Walsh.
As Tiffin outscored their opponents by a combined score of 26-12, Morrison contributed two goals and two assists, four draw controls, four caused turnovers and four ground balls.
The versatile senior helped slow down a high-scoring Ohio Valley offense as she came up with some well-timed caused turnovers vs. the Fighting Scots.
Against Walsh, she took the draw and towards the end, picked up a key ground ball in a close contest that allowed the Dragons to run the clock out and preserve the program’s seventh win of the spring.
