INDIANAPOLIS 
– A total of eight men’s and women’s programs will be migrating shortly to Owensboro, Ky., for the 2019 Great Midwest Athletic Conference Tennis Championships later this week. 
 
The respective four-team brackets will battle in matchups to be played at point of decision on the Centre Courts of the Owensboro Tennis Complex. Kentucky Wesleyan will be serving as host of the conference tournament for the second year in a row. 
 
The annual championship ice cream social will be conducted on Thursday evening before competition gets underway on Friday morning with semifinal action. 
 
During the social, all-conference awards will be distributed and individual award winners --including player of the year, freshman of the year and coach of the year -- will also be revealed. 
 
Tiffin’s men and Hillsdale’s women head into the playoffs as regular-season champions and have secured the No. 1 seed. Each program reeled off undefeated runs through the conference schedule on their way to the top seeds. 
 
The Chargers of Hillsdale are looking to repeat as conference champions and winning both the regular season and conference tournament in 2018. 
 
Tiffin’s maiden voyage in the league has been a successful one under head coach Phil Conley; the Dragons enter their first Great Midwest tourney on a six-match win streak. 
 
The men’s tournament bracket also includes No. 2 seed Findlay, defending tournament champion and No. 3 seed Hillsdale and 2018 championship finalist/No. 4 seed Walsh. 
 
The women’s tournament bracket additionally features No. 2 seed Walsh, No. 3 seed Tiffin and No. 4 seed Findlay. All four of the postseason-qualifying programs were able to place both their men’s and women’s teams into the championship bracket. 
 
All matches will be played in the Central Time Zone. The first men’s semifinal on Friday morning starts at 9 a.m. CT between No. 1 Tiffin and No. 4 Walsh. The second matchup will pit No. 2 Findlay vs. No. 3 Hillsdale.
 
The men’s championship matchup will start at 9:30 a.m. CT on Saturday. 
 
The women’s opening-round contests will be played also on Friday with afternoon start times. No. 1 Hillsdale is scheduled to face No. 4 Findlay at 2 p.m. CT while No. 2 Walsh clashes against No. 3 Tiffin around 4:30 p.m. CT.
