Women’s Lacrosse Players of the Week (April 16)

INDIANAPOLIS – Co-league leader Tiffin and Walsh were tabbed for Great Midwest Athletic Conference Women’s Lacrosse Players of the Week honors on Tuesday afternoon. 
 
The stakes continue to be raised in the regular season with Tiffin and Findlay both tied for first in the league standings at 4-0. 
 
The Dragons and Oilers are on a collision course for a head-to-head showdown on Saturday that could determine the No. 1 seed, hosting rights and the regular-season championship.
 
Four teams will qualify for the postseason as most teams have three league contests left to go in their respective regular-season schedules.

Cowen-Tripp helped the Cavaliers win two conference games over the past week and contributed to the scoring column with 13 points, including a balanced seven goals and six assists. 
 
Both wins over defending conference champ Lake Erie and Ursuline for Walsh came on the road and the Cavaliers are the first team to the 10-win mark for the spring. 
 
Cowen-Tripp scored three goals and helped on three others as Walsh beat LEC, 16-11. The junior fired eight shots and all were on goal. 
 
Two days later, Cowen-Tripp produced four goals and three more assists on six shots as the Cavaliers defeated Ursuline, 16-5. 
 
Cowen-Tripp averaged 3.50 goals per game and 6.50 points per contest in the two matchups.

The Dragons are on the prowl to host the conference tournament in their first year with the league. 
 
Tiffin continued to ramp up the pressure on others by taking down Davis & Elkins and playing one of the nation’s best, No. 5-ranked Florida Southern.
 
The aggressive schedule by Tiffin has also included nationally-ranked opponents like Colorado Mesa, Regis and Lindenwood, in addition to Florida Southern. 
 
Morrison was appointed for back-to-back weekly conference defensive honors as she filled out the stat sheet once again with five goals, one assist, six ground balls and six caused turnovers.
