Men’s Lacrosse Players of the Week (April 16)

INDIANAPOLIS – Postseason bids have been clinched by No. 10 Seton Hill and No. 8 Mercyhurst as both programs shared Great Midwest Athletic Conference Men’s Lacrosse Players of the Week recognition on Tuesday.
 
The Griffins are positioned to host the Great Midwest Championship for the third consecutive year with a 4-0 record in league play. SHU has beaten Mercyhurst head-to-head in a close final while the two teams have tangled in 2017 and 2018 in the championship final. 
 
Two more playoff spots remain for the tourney conducted May 2-4. Walsh and Lake Erie are tied for third at 2-2 with just two regular season conference matchups remaining.

Kueber led all players in scoring for the past week of competition, chalking 13 points for the Lakers as they recorded their eighth and ninth wins of the spring. 
 
Mercyhurst beat Walsh in conference action and went on the road to win an ECC / G-MAC Challenge Cup game against Mercy, handing the now 13-1 Mavericks their first loss of the year. 
 
Kueber was dynamic to earn his second offensive player of the week award for the season, scoring 10 goals and handing out three assists. 
 
The sophomore attack fired off 12 shots, 11 that were on goal and played all possible 120 minutes on the field. He had seven goals and one assist, including the game-winning score, against Walsh in a 19-8 win.
 
Versus Mercy, he had five points with three goals and a pair of assists while the Lakers earned a 10-2 victory on the road in New York.
 
Kueber is the league leader in goals with 34 and is second in points with 49. 
 
Defensive Player of the Week

Scerbo helped the Griffins extend their win streak to five straight with road conference wins at Wheeling Jesuit and Lake Erie. 
 
The former conference freshman of the year was dominant in the face-off circle, winning over 76 percent of his attempts. He also chipped in two goals and one assist with a game-winning goal vs. LEC. 
 
Scerbo collected 21 ground balls and helped hold WJU to eight goals and LEC to 11 goals, respectively. 
 
This is Scerbo’s fourth conference athlete of the week award from the defensive side of the field.
