Women’s Lacrosse Players of the Week (March 26)

INDIANAPOLIS – The league schedule is ready to get underway as Great Midwest Athletic Conference Women’s Lacrosse Players of the Week awards continued as announced on Tuesday. 
 
Offensive Player of the Week
Kayla Stewart

In a week with back-to-back wins against District of Columbia and Westminster, both on the road, the Fighting Scots scored a combined 39 goals with Stewart playing a large part in the offensive success.
 
The junior netted 15 points which included 10 goals and five assists and was efficient by only taking 13 shots in both contests.
 
Stewart delivered four goals and four assists against District of Columbia and had six shots on goal. She added seven more points with six goals and one more assist against Westminster.
 
She also came up with five ground balls and had six draw controls while forcing three caused turnovers. 
 
On the season, Stewart has 31 points with 22 goals and nine assists to rank second on the team. She has a shot percentage of .611.
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Mikaela Faus
Ohio Valley
Goalkeeper
Senior
Medina, OH (Medina HS)
 
At 7-1 going into the conference schedule, Walsh is on a four-game win streak and strong defense has been the core to the program’s success.
 
Faus has been the goalie of record in all of Walsh’s wins, the most recent a pair of home victories vs. Lawrence Tech and Charleston. 
 
Faus was stout as the back line of defense with 23 saves and 11 ground balls collected. 
 
The senior made six saves against Lawrence Tech and made 17 more stops against Charleston.
