Men’s Lacrosse Players of the Week (March 26)

INDIANAPOLIS – Following a league victory, Walsh earned a sweep of Great Midwest Athletic Conference Men’s Lacrosse Players of the Week honors as announced on Tuesday. 
 
Seton Hill is still the top-ranked team in the USILA Coaches Poll at No. 11 while Mercyhurst is ranked 13th. 
 
Mercyhurst is currently first in the conference standings at 2-0 while every other school has one league game under its belt. SHU and Walsh are 1-0 going into the next weekend of competition.

McMahon was the driving force as the Cavaliers defeated Wheeling Jesuit, 18-8, for a big win to open the conference schedule. 
 
The junior attack produced five goals and two assists in the home win as Walsh outshot the Cardinals, 35-33. 
 
McMahon scored four times alone in the second period, including three straight goals in about a three-minute span that helped give his team an 11-7 lead at halftime. 
 
McMahon scored the lone goal in the third period and then as Walsh had a 6-1 edge in the fourth period, he provided an assist. 
 
McMahon now has 11 points (8 G, 3 A) in six games played this spring. He has taken 16 shots and made five starts. 
 
Defensive Player of the Week

Wauwatosa, WI (Wauwatosa HS)
 
Ciezynski was all over the field as the Cavaliers stepped it up defensively for their first conference win over Wheeling Jesuit.
 
The sophomore collected 13 ground balls and helped the offensive cause with one assist.
 
He also was successful on securing possession for Walsh with 21 of 27 faceoffs won. Ciezynski and his teammates blanked the Cardinals in the third period and Walsh outscored WJU 7-1 in the second half alone. 
 
Ciezysnski has played in all of his team’s seven games this spring. He has won almost 61 percent of his faceoff attempts and has three goals and two assists.
