INDIANAPOLIS – Alderson Broaddus and eighth-ranked Mercyhurst received Great Midwest Athletic Conference Men’s Lacrosse Players of the Week honors as announced on Tuesday afternoon.
The Great Midwest’s top-10 ranked teams were on the short end of closely-contested matchups. No. 7 Mercyhurst fell to No. 3 Limestone and No. 8 Seton Hill had a setback to No. 8 Le Moyne.
The first Great Midwest/East Coast Conference Challenge Cup game also went to the ECC as the District of Columbia was able to defeat Davis & Elkins, 16-12.

The Battlers earned their first victory of the season with a 15-9 win over Chowan as Clarkin played a vital role in the team’s success.
Clarkin scored four goals and had two assists for AB, which started the year on the road at No. 3 Seton Hill and home against Roberts Wesleyan.
He took eight shots and was also credited with two ground balls and one caused turnover.
Clarkin scored his first goal of the game after a go-ahead score by teammate Jesse Worley. From there, the Battlers were in control the rest of the way.
Clarkin would score one more time in the second period before scoring two more times in the fourth quarter.

The top-10 ranked Lakers had a tough one going up against No. 3 Limestone over the past week, but kept the final score very close in a 13-10 outcome.
Mercyhurst has played two nationally-ranked opponents to the start the year, including No. 17 Wingate.
Bates did a little bit of everything to keep his team in contention with six ground balls, three caused turnovers and three won faceoffs.
