INDIANAPOLIS – The opening weekend is in the books for several programs as Great Midwest Athletic Conference Men’s Lacrosse Athletes of the Week awards started on Monday.
The USILA Coaches Poll has three teams from the Great Midwest in the top 20, including 2018 NCAA Championship semifinalist Seton Hill at No. 3. Mercyhurst is ranked at No. 12 and Lake Erie is polled at No. 19.
SHU is the league’s back-to-back tournament champion since the sport was offered in the conference starting in 2017.

Hofseth helped propel the Griffins to season-opening victories against Molloy and Alderson Broaddus.
He scored four goals on 10 shots unleashed against Molloy in his season debut. He also had three assists as Seton Hill’s offensive assault included a 59-20 edge in the shot department.
Hofseth helped SHU continue to dominate league play with one goal, six assists and three caused turnovers in the team’s Great Midwest opener against Alderson Broaddus.
The talented attack combined for five goals and nine assists as he continued his pace as the conference’s career all-time leading goal scorer.
Hofseth has 59 since 2017 and his assist total currently is tied for seventh (24).
Hofseth entered 2019 ranked No. 2 in Great Midwest history in points scored. He now has 142 to trail former teammate Jack Moran (150).

The 6-6 wrecking machine was a USILA All-American for the second consecutive season after being named Great Midwest Specialist of the Year in his memorable 2018 season.
The Griffins permitted just 10 goals allowed in a pair of combined victories to start the spring.
Craig was the anchor as the senior was officially credited with 14 ground balls and five caused turnovers. He also scored twice to aid the offensive effort.
He entered the new year ranked third all-time in conference history in caused turnovers with 48 and third in ground balls with 121.
Craig is now a four-time conference defensive player of the week selection by the league.
