INDIANAPOLIS
– A record nine student-athletes from the Great Midwest Athletic Conference were represented on the United States International Lacrosse Association (USILA) All-American Team for postseason recognition.

Two earned first-team honors, three more appeared on both the second team and third team while one more was named to the honorable mention team.

The 2018 season was capped with Seton Hill advancing into the NCAA Championship semifinals after winning both the regular-season and tournament conference titles to earn the No. 2 seed from the North Region.

The 2018 season represented just the second year of the sport’s existence and also welcomed new associate member Wheeling Jesuit to the mix. Appropriately so, Seton Hill led the way with six USILA All-Americans from this year’s voting.

Two-time Great Midwest Defensive Player of the Year Greg Weyl of Mercyhurst was on the first-team USILA All-American ballot along with Seton Hill’s Zack Rusch.

Great Midwest Player of the Year Jack Moran is the conference’s all-time leading point scorer in two seasons and he earned second-team billing along with a pair of Lake Erie standouts, Lucas Shafer and Reed Hnidy.

Shafer led the conference in goals per game and points per game while Moran was tops in points, total goals, assists and assists per game. Hnidy was tabbed Great Midwest Defensive Player of the Week towards the end of the regular season.

The third team had three more Griffins on the list, including Great Midwest Specialist of the Year Brett Craig, Great Midwest Goalkeeper of the Year Max Eismann and senior defender Joe Cillo.

Jay Scerbo, a three-time Great Midwest Defensive Player of the Week, had lofty ground ball and faceoff percentages as he earned USILA Honorable Mention All-American accolades.

There were five USILA All-Americans chosen from the Great Midwest in 2017; Brett Craig and Greg Weyl were the repeat selections on this year’s team.
