INDIANAPOLIS – A Findlay offensive/defensive pairing was selected to close out the regular season Great Midwest Athletic Conference Women’s Players of the Week honors as announced on Tuesday.
 
The Oilers are going into the Great Midwest Championship as the No. 2 seed in the four-team bracket later this week in Painesville, Ohio. Lake Erie, this year’s conference regular-season champion and top seed, is serving as host.
 
Joining Lake Erie and Findlay in the playoffs is No. 3 Walsh and No. 4 Ursuline. Semifinal action will be conducted on Thursday before the championship game is played on Saturday.
 
Offensive Player of the Week

Sherman stood out from the pack in Findlay’s final two regular-season contests as the Oilers blitzed Alderson Broaddus and Davis & Elkins by a combined score of 47-3.
 
Sherman collected her second offensive weekly conference honor by netting 17 points, a total that included 10 goals and seven assists. She took 21 shots, 17 of which were on target.
 
Sherman has emerged as one of the league’s premier offensive threats and will be among a handful of players to watch as the conference tournament starts Thursday.
 
She also contributed with seven ground balls and caused three opponent turnovers on the defensive end of the field.
 
Sherman had four goals and four assists vs. AB and six goals and three assists vs. D&E. She averaged 8.50 points per game in both contests.
 
Sherman concluded the regular season ranking second in the conference in points (81) and points per game (4.76). She was also second in both assists (32) and assists per game (1.88) and is seventh in goal scoring.

The Oilers didn’t concede much of anything in both conference wins to wrap up the regular season as the unit once again clamped down defensively.
 
Findlay pitched a 24-0 shutout against Alderson Broaddus and limited Davis & Elkins to just four shots in the regular-season finale.
 
Similar to Sherman, Litman’s impact was felt on both sides of the pitch. The junior contributed 11 points (six goals, five assists) but led all players in ground balls with 15.
 
Litman also caused four turnovers and took eight shots. Her versatility as an offensive and defensive impact player will be vital to Findlay’s continued success in the postseason.
 
Litman has started in 10 of Findlay’s 17 games this spring.
