INDIANAPOLIS – Lake Erie and Ursuline received honors for Great Midwest Athletic Conference Women’s Lacrosse Players of the Week as announced on Wednesday.
 
The playoff picture is starting to round into focus for the four teams looking to qualify for the Great Midwest Championship. Yesterday, Lake Erie clinched the regular-season title and the top seed for the postseason.
 
So far, Findlay and Walsh will also be going to Painesville, Ohio, for the tournament while one team is left to be determined going into the final week of the regular season.
 
Offensive Player of the Week

Spin cashed in on her third weekly conference offensive honor as the Storm continued to roll in the regular season. LEC is closing in on a perfect run through the conference schedule, going into the new week 9-0 in league play.
 
The junior continues to rack up points in bunches, tallying 13 more in home victories against Alderson Broaddus and Davis & Elkins. She averaged 6.50 points per game on the week.
 
Lake Erie defeated AB and D&E by a combined score of 41-10 and is seeking to enhance its in-season resume for the Midwest Region rankings, where the Storm are fifth.
 
Spin had three goals and three assists against D&E on just eight shots as she contributed a ground ball and a caused turnover. In a 20-7 Lake Erie win, Spin recorded three goals and four assists vs. the Battlers.
 
Spin has helped Lake Erie become the top-scoring offensive unit in the Great Midwest with the Storm averaging over 17 goals per game scored. Spin is also the league leader in both points (84) and goals (55) and is tied at the top in assists (29) with Ohio Valley’s Emily Prentice.

The 2017 G-MAC Co-Freshman of the Year Nowicki had the numbers for both offensive and defensive consideration as the Arrows hunt for the final playoff spot in the conference tournament.
 
Nowicki helped Ursuline go 2-1 over the past week as she collected 17 ground balls against Ohio Valley, Davis & Elkins and Alderson Broaddus.
 
Nowicki also averaged over six points per game on the offensive end of the field while 21 of her 23 shots taken were on goal.
 
The sophomore produced eight points vs. Ohio Valley with six goals and a pair of assists. She also added four goals and three helpers against D&E for seven points and had four points vs. AB (2 G, 2 A).
 
Nowicki has 42 goals on the season to rank third in the league. She currently leads all players in the conference in ground balls (52) and ground balls per game (3.47).
