Women’s Lacrosse Players of the Week (April 2)

INDIANAPOLIS – Findlay and Lake Erie were tabbed for weekly honors in the new release on Great Midwest Athletic Conference Women’s Lacrosse Players of the Week announced on Monday afternoon.
 
Things are good in Painesville as Lake Erie leads both the men’s and women’s standings. The Storm are 3-0 in league play at the top of the Great Midwest after going on the road to beat Walsh.
 
LEC handed Walsh its first conference loss as the Cavaliers moved to 4-1 in the conference schedule while Findlay remains in the hunt at 3-1. A total of four teams will qualify for the conference tournament at the top seed.

Sherman is now a two-time conference weekly selection this season for her offensive exploits. The Oilers defeated Alderson Broaddus and Davis & Elkins to continue their hot start through conference play.
 
As Findlay outscored D&E and AB by a combined score of 39-6, Sherman racked up seven goals and five assists for a grand total of 12 points.
 
Sherman had three points with a pair of goals and one assist against D&E.
 
Her big game against Alderson Broaddus was notable with nine points, tied for the second most in conference history with Walsh’s Emma Armour. Sherman scored five goals and assisted four others.
 
The overall single-game points record is 10 by Anna Spin at Lake Erie, set just last weekend.
 
Sherman now ranks third in the conference in points and assists per game and comes in sixth in goals per game for the Oilers, who are tops in the league with 16 goals per contest.

Nottingham had an impressionable performance as the Storm held off Walsh by a score of 16-11. In a battle of unbeaten in the conference standings, Lake Erie went on the road and prevailed to improve to 5-2.
 
Nottingham collected six ground balls and caused four turnovers for the Storm. LEC had to work from behind at halftime while trailing Walsh 7-5.
 
The Storm would push through in the final 30 minutes, outscoring the Cavaliers 11-4 in the second half and the defense only gave up nine shots after the break.
