Women’s Lacrosse Players of the Week (April 17)

INDIANAPOLIS – League-leading Lake Erie produced both awards for Great Midwest Athletic Conference Women’s Lacrosse Players of the Week as announced on Tuesday.
 
The Storm (9-2, 7-0 G-MAC) toppled both Ursuline and Findlay over the past week to extend the program’s win streak to nine straight. With five more conference contests remaining in the schedule, LEC is in prime position to capture a regular-season title and host this year’s conference tournament.
 
Lake Erie beat second-place Findlay for the second time this season with both matches coming down to the wire. The Storm won an overtime affair in the first meeting while the second head-to-head matchup was decided by a 14-12 final.
 
Findlay and Walsh are both tied for second in the conference standings at 6-2.

Good things came in increments of 5’s for Spin as she earned her second nod for offensive weekly conference honors.
 
The productive junior recorded 10 goals and 5 assists for 15 points in the Storm’s two victories. She also 5 goals in each contest against Ursuline and Findlay and recorded five assists against the Oilers.
 
Spin also had 15 total shots on the week, including 12 attempts on goal. She added three ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers.
 
Spin’s season resume is strengthened by her position as the current league leader in goals per game (4.00) and points per game (5.82).  
 
Her 10 points in a single game against Findlay ties the single-game conference record that she set earlier this season against Wheeling Jesuit.
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Harmony Moore

Farmington, NY (Canadigua Academy)
 
Defensive responsibility and communication of the goalkeeper in close matches becomes paramount as Moore directed traffic of the unit for Lake Erie’s eighth and ninth straight wins in a row.
 
Moore was credited with both winning decisions in net to improve to 9-2 this spring.
 
She faced 40 combined shots and made a total of 15 saves with a goals against average 8.67 and save percentage just under 54 percent.
 
Moore made 10 stops in the 14-12 win against Findlay and made five more saves while playing the first half against Ursuline.
 
In 11 games, Moore has logged almost 500 minutes while making 68 saves on 205 shots faced.
