Women's Lacrosse Players of the Week (March 5)

INDIANAPOLIS – Following a season-opening win over Davenport, Findlay earned both awards for Great Midwest Athletic Conference Women’s Lacrosse Players of the Week as announced on Monday.

With eight points in her season debut against Davenport, Sherman was just one shy of matching the single-game conference scoring record.
 
Sherman tallied eight points on five goals and three assists as the Oilers rolled to a 17-4 win. She had the point total on just nine shots, including eight on target.
 
Sherman was also credited with four draw controls and one ground ball in the winning effort. She scored three times in the first half and two more in the final period, including a man-down score with 10:25 left before the halftime break.
 
Both Cydney Bartlett (Ursuline) and Mykirah Jones (Alderson Broaddus) had nine points during the spring of 2016 for the all-time record in Great Midwest history with nine points

Stephens helped hold Davenport to just four goals scored as the Findlay defense limited just four shots taken against goalkeeper Claire Farrell.
 
She also filled out the stat sheet with five ground balls and two caused turnovers. The Oilers, as a team, forced nine turnovers and had 31 ground balls to Davenport’s 15.
 
The Oilers held Davenport to just two goals apiece in each half.
