CANTON, Ohio
– Findlay added nine more event titles to the inaugural record books as the third day of the Great Midwest Athletic Conference/Mountain East Conference Swimming & Diving Championships ended on Friday.

The Oilers upped their total combined championship count to 25, including 13 event wins on the men’s side and 12 more for the women.

Findlay maintained its advantage at the top of the team standing for both genders going into Saturday’s final day of competition. Hillsdale and Malone remain in second and third in the women’s scoring.

The Malone men are still runner-up to the Oilers while Davis & Elkins holds strong at fourth with a narrow lead over Fairmont State.

The Mountain East earned a pair of individual titles as Fairmont State’s Courtney Deem became a three-time event winner following her victory in the 500 freestyle. Her teammate Marlena Dudek also added a thrilling win in the 100 breaststroke, edging out Findlay’s Hanna Cederholm and Hillsdale’s Anika Ellingson, who both swam faster preliminary times, at the line.

Cederholm still leads the gold medal count among all women’s participants with five. Coming in with four first-place finishes apiece for Findlay is now Katy Kouvaris and Amanda Stiegal.

On the men’s side, Findlay’s Janko Radmanovic attacked the water with ferocity to dominate the 200 butterfly prelims and relays with another NCAA B-cut standard. He won the prelims by over seven seconds and finished with almost the same margin in his finals attempt.

UF’s Ben Rath also won another individual event, his third of the meet, with the top time in the 500 freestyle. He also won the 1,000 freestyle on Wednesday and the 200 freestyle on Thursday.

Additional event wins for the Findlay men came in the 100 backstroke (Trae Gulgin) and the 100 breaststroke (Issac Stretch). Trent Williams was part of his third event-winning relay unit with the 800 freestyle to finish the night.

Findlay’s Alicia Solis matched teammate Hannah May with a conference diving title, this time in the 1 meter event. Kouvaris starred with the 200 butterfly win and as a member of the 800 freestyle relay.

Kathryn Samuelson was the other individual event winner with a 100 backstroke victory. Kouvaris, Sarah Miles, Emma Barnes and Stiegal, combined for the 800 freestyle win.

The final day of competition at the C.T. Branin Natatorium will also include recognition for the seniors from each competing institution. Preliminaries will start again at 10 AM ET tomorrow morning.
