INDIANAPOLIS – Four different divisional selections were made for the first week of Great Midwest Athletic Conference Baseball Players of the Week as announced on Tuesday afternoon.
Ohio Dominican (North) and Trevecca (South) both claimed pitcher/player honors for their work on the field early in the spring season.
South Division Player of the Week
Ethan Harrison
Trevecca
Second Base
Junior
Erlanger, KY (Dixie Heights HS)
Harrison helped the Trojans salvage a season-opening split against Montevallo with extra-base pop that the league has grown accustomed to in his career thus far.
He doubled twice, once in each game, to go 3-for-7 with three runs scored against the Falcons. He also stole a base and reached on a hit-by-pitch.
Harrison entered the spring among the Great Midwest’s best hitters of all-time with a minimum of 250 at-bats in their career. He is sporting a .359 batting average in his first two years in the league, coming in at ninth in the conference career record books.
South Division Pitcher of the Week
Jake Roberson
Trevecca
Left-Handed Pitcher
Sophomore
Springfield, TN (Springfield HS)
Roberson impressed with the winning decision in the box score against Montevallo, TNU’s first win of the 2018 campaign.
He saw relief action in both games of the doubleheader, combining for 3.2 scoreless innings with three strikeouts.
Roberson was the fifth TNU pitcher deployed against UM in game one and worked a clean top half of the ninth inning.
In game two, he preserved a gem from starter Drew Pierce, who worked five scoreless frames, while the TNU offense broke a 2-2 tie with three runs in the eighth inning.
