INDIANAPOLIS – Expectations are high for Hillsdale on the court following the announcement of the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Women’s Tennis Preseason Coaches Poll presented by Under Armour on Monday.

The Chargers, also predicted as favorites in the men’s tennis preseason coaches poll, were tabbed by the league’s coaches to win in the women’s standings as well.

Hillsdale received four first-place votes in the balloting process to edge out Walsh. The Cavaliers received two first-place votes while three-time conference champion Davis & Elkins earned one.

The Chargers were picked to win the league with eight total programs in the mix for the Great Midwest women’s tennis title and an automatic qualifier into the NCAA Championship bracket.

Hillsdale earned a total of 43 points and Walsh collected 40 in a close vote at the top. D&E garnered 37 while Findlay was fourth and Cedarville fifth, respectively.

Alderson Broaddus, Kentucky Wesleyan and Ursuline, were polled at sixth, seventh and eighth, going into the spring.

Some teams have already started their spring competition while playing in a handful of matches in the fall season.

Ursuline’s tennis program was activated back for this year while Hillsdale, Findlay and Walsh, are all first-year programs with the league.
