INDIANAPOLIS – The fall season is winding down as Great Midwest Athletic Conference Men’s & Women’s Tennis Athletes of the Week awards were announced on Tuesday afternoon by the league.
Men’s Athlete of the Week

At the Northwest Ohio Invitational, Chatras and the Dragons competed with several Midwest Region teams in attendance including Hillsdale, Wayne State and Northwood.
The sophomore had an impressive showing by going undefeated in singles competition and picking up another doubles victory in a two-day span.
He won all three of his singles matches in straight sets while beating opponents from Wayne State, host Northwest Ohio and Northwood.
He defeated Jason Potter, 6-1, 6-2, Duarte Texieira, 6-3, 6-0, and Pablo Salamanca, 6-1, 6-0.
His double victory was with Austin Mohamedali as they beat a tandem from Lawrence Tech, 9-7. His other doubles matches were extremely close with 8-6 and 8-5 finals.
Since joining the Great Midwest, Chatras is the first Tiffin men’s tennis student-athlete to receive weekly honors.
Women’s Athlete of the Week

After competing at the ITA Midwest Regional and in a season-opening dual against Charleston, the Senators racked up their first win of the season against Fairmont State.
Vargas helped D&E to a 5-2 road win over their future Mountain East Conference opponent with important wins in singles and doubles.
She won her singles match in the No. 5 position in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2, while contributed to a 6-2 doubles win with Valentine Schwartz.
