9.29.17

INDIANAPOLIS - The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association released its Week Three Poll on Wednesday. Featured once again are both men’s and women’s programs from the Great Midwest Athletic Conference.

The Hillsdale women’s team continues to climb in the rankings as it moved up to fourth in the nation after being ranked sixth last week. This improvement comes despite the Chargers not competing this past weekend.

Hillsdale’s next competition will come at the Greater Louisville Classic on Saturday, Sept. 30, at the University of Louisville.

Coming in behind them and remaining steady at number 10 for the second straight week is Cedarville. Like the Chargers, the Yellow Jackets also did not compete last weekend, and will compete next at their home event, the All-Ohio Championships.

The final team to crack the Top 25 this week comes in Walsh University. After being ranked 17th last week, the Cavaliers enter this week’s poll ranked 19th. They will join Cedarville at the All-Ohio Championships on Friday, Sept. 29.

Malone also saw recognition as they received votes and come in unofficially at 31st.

From the men’s side, not much changed from the Great Midwest’s side. For the second straight week, Walsh is the lone representative for the conference, ranked 25th.

The USTFCCCA also released the Week Three regional rankings, with eight Great Midwest Athletic Conference programs being ranked between the men’s and women’s teams.

The women’s Top 10 in the Midwest Region is identical to the list last week. Hillsdale again is ranked second in the region behind Grand Valley State University. Behind the Chargers is Cedarville, ranked fourth and Walsh, ranked fifth. The final team in the women’s poll is seventh ranked Malone.

The men’s Top 10 also features four Great Midwest teams. The first nine teams remain the same as last week with Walsh being the highest ranked conference team at fifth. Directly behind them in sixth is Malone and two spots behind them again ranked eighth is Hillsdale. The lone change in the rankings comes with the addition of Cedarville. After not being ranked last week, the Yellow Jackets enter this poll in the tenth spot.
