INDIANAPOLIS – Trevecca Nazarene sophomore infielder Ethan Harrison and Ohio Valley freshman pitcher Nicholas Shower were named Great Midwest Athletic Conference Baseball Players of the Week on Monday.
 
Harrison, from Erlanger, Ky., put up some noticeable numbers in just four games. He went 11-for-18 with two home runs, a triple, double, 10 runs scored and six runs batted in. Harrison’s best game came in Friday afternoon’s matchup in non-conference action against Oakland City. Harrison collected four hits in five at-bats, blasting two homers, legging out a triple, scoring four times and driving in four.
 
Harrison is among the batting average leaders at a .389 clip. He has 27 runs batted in on the season and leads the Trojans in stolen bases (16), on-base percentage(.484), slugging percentage (.679), doubles (12), and home runs (8).
 
Shower appeared in two games this week for the Fighting Scots, both resulting in wins for Ohio Valley.
 
Shower started Tuesday afternoon’s game against West Liberty. The freshman from Auburndale, Fla., only pitched the first two innings but was very effective, allowing a single hit and striking out four of the seven batters he faced.
 
Shower then started the first game of two at home for OVU’s Senior Day against Cedarville on Saturday. Seven innings of work was completed by the freshman, only allowing three hits and striking out three batters in a 6-0 Fighting Scots’ victory.
 
Shower bumped his record to 3-3 on the season as the Fighting Scots continue to play their best baseball heading into the conference tournament.
 
Both TNU and OVU have locked up two of the six seeds in the G-MAC Championship to be conducted at Prasco Park in Mason, Ohio.
 
The Trojans sit atop the Great Midwest standings with just a week to play with a 12-4 conference record and a 20-21 overall record on the season. The Fighting Scots are fourth in the conference with a 10-10 conference record and a 26-20 overall record.
