G-MAC Men’s Lacrosse Players of the Week (May 8)

INDIANAPOLIS – Seton Hill’s Bennett Johnson and Nick Neferis earned the final set of Great Midwest Athletic Conference Men’s Lacrosse Players of the Week that was announced on Monday.
 
The inaugural Great Midwest men’s lacrosse title went to the No. 3 seed Grifins, which beat No. 2 Lake Erie and No. 1 Mercyhurst on their way through the bracket.
 
Johnson was named the league's offensive player of the week while junior Nick Nefreris was named the league's defensive player of the week.  It is the second time this season Johnson has won a weekly G-MAC award.

Johnson led the Griffins offensively in the G-MAC title game with four goals. He also added two goals and three assists in the semifinal win over Lake Erie. He also added two ground balls in the pair of wins for the Griffins.

Neferis took over at the faceoff dot for the Griffins in the G-MAC title game and won 14 of his 20 faceoffs to keep the Griffins in control of the contest. He finished the week with 11 ground balls. He scored a key goal off a faceoff when the Griffins were down a man that gave them an early 3-1 lead in the title game.
