INDIANAPOLIS – Seton Hill’s Bennett Johnson and Max Eismann were named Great Midwest Athletic Conference Men’s Lacrosse Players of the Week on Monday.
The 15th-ranked Griffins (7-4, 3-2 G-MAC) scored one of their biggest wins of the season with a stirring comeback win against No. 4 NYIT on the road.
SHU scored three goals in the final period after being tied 6-6 at the end of the three quarters with the Bears. Johnson’s offensive exploits and Eismann’s defensive prowess keyed Seton Hill to its seventh win of the spring.
Johnson scored two goals, none more important than the game winner with 2:55 on the clock that gave the Griffins a 9-7 lead late. Both of Johnson’s goals came in the fourth period; he also scored about five minutes prior.
The sophomore midfielder from Annapolis, Md., currently ranks 10th in the league in total points with 27 (18 goals, nine assists)
Eismann made seven saves in a defensive struggle and in just four games behind net for a small sample size, has posted impressive numbers.
His goals against average is 4.47 in just over 160 minutes on the field. Eismann’s save percentage is also pushing 65 percent, which would easily lead the league among all qualifying goalkeepers.
Eismann is a rookie from Rochester, N.Y.
