INDIANAPOLIS - Alderson Broaddus senior infielder Jordan Martin and Trevecca Nazarene senior right-handed pitcher Bryan Smith were named Great Midwest Athletic Conference Baseball Players of the Week on Monday.

Martin’s torrid 10-for-19 stretch at the plate played a large role in the Battlers going 4-1 this past week.

Martin collected hits in four of the five games, including a 3-for-5 outing with four RBI and two doubles against Glenville State last Wednesday and going 3-for-3 with a double, home run and four runs batted in against conference foe Ohio Valley in the second game of a doubleheader on Saturday.

For the week, Martin compiled a .579 batting average, four doubles, a home run, eight runs scored, nine runs batted in, a .947 slugging percentage, and a .636 on-base percentage. His slugging percentage ranked tops among all league players and his on-base percentage was second.

Martin is now batting .330 on the season, with nine doubles, three home runs, and 27 runs batted in. The Battlers overall record is now 17-14 overall with a 7-5 in league play.

Smith had a spectacular outing in the first game of a twinbill for TNU at Davis & Elkins on Saturday. Smith went seven strong innings, giving up five hits, no runs, and striking out seven, while picking up his fourth win of the season.

Smith has been a big part of the Trojans’ sustained success in conference play and his seven scoreless frames represented win No. 28 in his career, tops among all conference pitchers in league history.

TNU currently tops the G-MAC standings at 10-2 in league play; the Trojans are 15-17 overall.
