INDIANAPOLIS – Davis & Elkins freshman Laura Fermosel was named Great Midwest Athletic Conference Women’s Tennis Athlete of the Week for the second time of the current season.
 
Fermosel and the Senators battled Daemen on the road to kick off the new calendar year in New York, falling by a 6-3 decision.
 
Fermosel remained unbeaten on the year in singles competition, winning in straight sets in shutout fashion against Daria Tyschenko at the No. 1 slot.
 
She also won doubles with partner Elise Simon with another blanking in the No. 1 position, 8-0.
 
Fermosel is 4-0 this season in singles and has compiled an impressive 3-1 doubles record.
