INDIANAPOLIS – Sixth-ranked Mercyhurst tandem Keyan McQueen and Greg Weyl were named Great Midwest Athletic Conference Men’s Lacrosse Players of the Week on Monday.
The Lakers (6-1, 3-0 G-MAC) enjoyed a strong win against league rival and No. 10-ranked Seton Hill on the road Saturday.
Mercyhurst is in strong position to eventually host the inaugural G-MAC Men’s Lacrosse Championship with two more conference games left to play this spring.
This is the second conference weekly honor of the season for both McQueen and Weyl.
McQueen scored three goals and had an assist. He was also credited with three ground balls.
The senior attacker is the current league leader in a handful of offensive categories including total points (28), points per game (4.0), assists (13) and assists per game (1.86). He is also tied in first with two game-winning goals.
McQueen ranks tied for fifth in total goals with 15 this spring.
Weyl earned defensive recognition in back-to-back fashion as Mercyhurst held the Griffins to just seven goals on 25 shots faced.
Weyl, a junior from Pittsford, N.Y., found his way on to the score sheet with a goal. He also caused a turnover and had five ground balls.
